The Mike “Fierce” Adams Memorial Scholarship is inspired by a person who was truly a positive force in this world. Mike Adams impacted so many people through his passion for fitness and connection. He rocked the dance fitness community for many years and was known as Zumbaman Mike.
 
He taught Zumba, MixxedFit, Commit, and his final certification was as a Chair One Fitness Instructor. He was a very close friend and support system for our Founder, Alexis Perkins, and you can see him in some of the choreography videos in Chair One’s Instructor Portal.
 
He passed unexpectedly, and way too soon, on April 11, 2023.  As a way to keep his memory alive and commemorate all the positivity he brought to Chair One Fitness, and the fitness community as a whole, we have created the Mike “Fierce” Adams Memorial Scholarship to provide Chair One Fitness Instructor training in his name.
 
We will be gifting scholarships to people who want to make a difference in their communities by teaching our inclusive fitness programs, but who may not have the financial capacity to pay for the training and certification at this time.  If that sounds like you, we invite you to apply below.

  • Finalists will be notified via email, and asked to submit a short video telling us about themselves, what they plan to do with their certification and the population they want to serve.  Deadline to submit video will be June 30, 2024.
  • 7 winners will be announced during the week of July 8.  Winners will be notified via email first and then announced on Chair One’s social media channels
  • Winners will receive:  1 free Chair One Fitness Instructor Certification Training (virtual or online), 1 year free membership to the Chair One Instructor Portal  (after completion of the training) and free Chair One Fitness shirt (after completion of the training).  Total prize value worth $600 per person.
